Fit DHM
Health. Fitness. Happiness.
What is Functional Fitness?
A training method to prepare you for real life.
In plain English:
What: Different workouts every day which are scalable to an appropriate level for all, regardless of age or fitness level.
How: We do functional movements- safe, effective and efficient movements that mimic those used throughout life.
Why: To improve your fitness in a safe, but challenging, way.

At Fit DHM our aim is to give you the best hour of your day in a supportive community setting. Our qualified coaches focus on quality of movement and helping you achieve your goals, whatever they are.

We train hard, always doing something different, and have fun while we’re doing it.

We know that for many people, starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming. Whether you're brand new to functional fitness or an experienced athlete looking for a new home gym, you're welcome in our community.

To get started, please get in touch using the 'Contact Us' page. We'll get you booked in for a free trial session where you'll have the opportunity to join in a typical class and get a feel for the gym itself.

Once you've arrived at the gym you'll be greeted by one of our coaches and asked to fill in some initial paperwork. You'll then be shown around and introduced to other people taking part in the session. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have- we'll be happy to answer them.

Inclusivity
Fit DHM is for everyone
At Fit DHM we believe function fitness is for all, regardless of race, age, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation; regardless of ability or fitness level. We would like everyone to feel included and welcome whether they are a member, prospective member, or visitor. We recognise that joining a new gym or starting a fitness journey can feel intimidating, particularly for people who identify as part of a minority group. We will do all we can to support and welcome all into our community.
We don’t believe, however, that functional fitness is ‘one size fits all’ - everything can be adapted to suit the individual. We think this is especially relevant in the case of disabilities, learning difficulties, injuries and other health conditions. We work with individuals, blending our movement knowledge with their experience of their body and mind, to find suitable adaptations where necessary.
You aren’t obliged to disclose your medical history, disability, health condition or injury to us when you come for a free trial or become a member, but if you choose to do so it might mean we are better able to adapt our coaching to your needs and/or make reasonable adjustments, especially if there is an impact on how you move or learn. We won’t treat you differently, but we will tailor our coaching.

If you would like to discuss your needs as an individual with us, feel free to email, message, or speak to us in person to request a private conversation. This conversation often works best in person, but if you would prefer another method please ask and we’ll do our best to accommodate it. We will take a non-judgmental approach; we will listen, ask relevant questions, and use this knowledge to inform how we coach you. The details will be treated confidentially, but may be shared with other coaches if relevant. We will not disclose confidential information to other members unless you ask us to.
